Pilates, Turbo Kick, and Have a Ball with Weights – Amanda
My name is Amanda Nordwald and I love group exercise!
I started attending group exercise classes in 2008 and fell in love. I found that working out with a group of people motivated me more than exercising on my own. Plus, it was more fun! After about 1 year of being a student I decided to step from the back of the room to the front and start teaching what I was passionate about.
The first class I ever taught was Turbo Kick! I became a certified Turbo Kick instructor in May 2009.
In February 2012 I became certified in Zumba®. Later that year I decided to get my Primary Group Exercise Instructor Certification in September 2012 through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America). This has allowed me to branch out and teach a wide variety of classes (like Have a Ball!). Through AFAA, I have also completed continuing education courses like yoga, Pilates and prenatal fitness.
I want everyone that comes to my classes to get stronger and HAVE FUN!

As life happened, I found I hadn’t been taking care of myself and needed to make a change… that’s when I found Zumba. My husband and I attended our first Zumba class together and I fell in love! Zumba paired with a healthy lifestyle helped me lose 75 lbs and find my passion. I am eager to share my passion and look forward to meeting you in a class soon!

Yoga with Barb
My name is Barb Wagener. I have been teaching yoga for over thirty years. I taught at Meramec Community College, City of St. Charles Adult Education and had many private classes. I became interested in yoga because of how relaxed and at ease I felt after taking or teaching classes. It has kept my body limber, helped my breathing and most important taught me to relax and have an increased sense of wellbeing.

They are my everything!
I have a positive attitude and a driving faith to be the best instructor that I can be. Finding fitness has changed every area of my life. I do not just enjoy Zumba, I am passionate about it. I want to be a light that can guide and support anyone to a better fitness level. My goal is to help everyone have fun while getting fit.
Tai Chi for Good Health with Carel
I was taught by a Tai Chi Master over 30 years ago and have teaching ever since. My goal is to assist people (especially seniors) to have better control of their health and avoid falls.Tai Chi and Qui Gong are beneficial in relieving arthritis, enhancing balance, strengthening muscles, training breathing and to relieve stress while lowering high blood pressure.
Tai Chi has been recommended by the Mayo Clinic as a natural alternative to medications for arthritis and as after care for stroke victims. Harvard University studies have shown that it can help people in the early stages of Parkinson’s Disease to have better control of their muscles and thereby reduce the risk of falling.
Painting of the Month - Jess Shults
My name is Jessica (Jess) Shults. I grew up in and returned to after college, Montgomery City. I was very active in the community here and continue to be. I am in my 11th year of teaching at Montgomery Co R-II Schools. I currently teach art to about 550 elementary students! I serve as VP of the Montgomery County Arts Council and am the Assistant Fire Chief of the Montgomery Fire Protection District. I know, those things seem to be polar opposite, but I love them all! I began doing photographs for clients to help finance the camera I wanted for my photography hobby. You can view some my work and contact info on my website: livyandme.com.
I began doing painting classes for a ladies group at my church that I am a part of. That portion of my business has spread through word of mouth and blossomed more with the Montgomery County Arts Council was looking for classes to be held in their new art center, you can often find my three year old daughter Oliviana joining those classes. I now do an open painting class at the art center most months, private parties, birthday painting parties, and travel to various locations for destination paint parties.
Living a joyful Life! - Karen Ahlquist
My name is Karen Ahlquist and I am a professional life development coach.
I was born in St Louis and raised in Kirkwood. As an adult I lived in Minnesota, Texas and California before moving back to Missouri. I’m married to my high school sweetheart. We have three grown children and one granddaughter.
A few years ago, I realized that my life experiences and my interest in helping others live their best life were leading me to the life coaching profession. I trained at CoachU, one of the top coaching schools, and began my practice. Although I am based here in Warrenton, I have coached clients around the country and in Europe.
As a coach, I partner with my clients to help them get clear on what they want to do, who they want to be, where they want to go and how they are going to get there in the easiest most effective way. I am their ally, their resource, their support system. I provide my clients with perspective, information, accountability and encouragement throughout the process of growth and creation. It is a joy and an honor to be with them on their journey.
Life isn’t about finding yourself. It’s about creating yourself.
Chair Exercise Class & Walking Club- David
Hi! My name is David Williams and I have been asked to teach a Walking Club and a Chair Senior Exercise class. I grew up on a farm in South Lyon Michigan. Graduated from HS in 1959 and went to college at Murray State University in KY. I received a degree in Health Physical Education and Business. I taught school for 32 years beginning in Charleston MO for 2 years in then 30 years in The St. Charles City School District. The best part about teaching was the smiles I saw when students could accomplish a goal for class and watching the struggle students go through to there. I have spent the last 2 ½ years getting myself in good shape and hopefully that work ethic will carry over to our fitness center participants.
Country Heat ™- Amy
My name is Amy Gruenefeld. I have recently been certified as a ‘Country Heat Live’ and ‘Cize Live’ instructor. This will be my first class. I have been working as a health and fitness coach a little over 4 yrs.
I began doing workout programs at home. I completely fell in LOVE with country heat and want to share it with everyone I possibly can. This low impact, country line dancing inspired workout is super fun and keeps you wanting MORE!
Growing up I was very active and participated in every sports I possibly could. Between having my daughter in 2005 and quitting smoking I gained well over 50lbs! Since beginning my own fitness journey, 5 yrs ago, I’ve lost over 70lbs total. My diabetics is under control with my nutrition and workouts.
Because I am 70 lbs lighter I am able to keep up with my 3 active children and husband.
